وَ هُوَ الَّذِیْۤ اَنْشَاَ جَنّٰتٍ مَّعْرُوْشٰتٍ وَّ غَیْرَ مَعْرُوْشٰتٍ وَّ النَّخْلَ وَ الزَّرْعَ مُخْتَلِفًا اُكُلُهٗ وَ الزَّیْتُوْنَ وَ الرُّمَّانَ مُتَشَابِهًا وَّ غَیْرَ مُتَشَابِهٍؕ-كُلُوْا مِنْ ثَمَرِهٖۤ اِذَاۤ اَثْمَرَ وَ اٰتُوْا حَقَّهٗ یَوْمَ حَصَادِهٖ ﳲ وَ لَا تُسْرِفُوْاؕ-اِنَّهٗ لَا یُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِیْنَ(141)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

It is He who produces gardens, cultivated and wild, palm trees, crops of different kinds, olives, and pomegranates; similar ˹in form˺ but different ˹in taste˺. When the tree bears fruit, eat from its fruit, and give its right on the day of its harvest, [1] and do not waste; indeed He does not like those who waste.

Commentary

Here the command to fulfil the taxes and levies of harvests is mentioned. Primarily, this includes the ʿUshr levy, i.e., a tenth or twentieth of the crop and giving the destitute (masākīn) something from the crop too. This verse is evidence for the fact that there is zakat in every harvest, whether it is more or less, or whether or not the fruit lasts a year.
