English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

And among them there are some who listen to you attentively; and We have placed aveil over their hearts that they do not comprehend it. And We placed a burden within their ears. And (even) if they see every sign, they will not believe in them to the extent that when they come to you, disputing with you, the disbelievers say: “These are only tales of previous nations.”[1]

Commentary

[1]

The disbelievers of Makkah described the Holy Quran as tales of previous nations as they likened the Quran to the fabricated stories of Rustam and Esfandyār. The disbelievers were refuted for this statement as Quranic accounts are true and full of wisdom. The mention of life after death in the Quran is definitive and a reality.
