Al Anam

HR Background

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

In fact, what they were concealing previously became apparent. And if they are returned, then they would certainly resort to the very actions they had been forbidden. Indeed, they are liars.[1]

Commentary

[1]

When the disbelievers are made to stand upon the Fire, they shall say: “If only we are returned to the world, we promise that we shall not deny the verses of our Lord, and we will embrace faith.” In response, it was said that although they are expressing a desire to return with the promise of faith, they are not truthful. The polytheism concealed by them before the Day of Judgement was now revealed (with its consequences); if they are sent back to the world, they would transgress again as they are dishonest in their statements.
