Say: “Should we worship other than Allah one who can neither benefit us nor cause us any harm? And should we retreat upon our heels after Allah has granted us guidance like the one whom the devils lead astray in the earth, bewildered, and his companions are calling him to the path, saying, ‘Come forth to us.’” Say: “The guidance of Allah is the only guidance. And we have been commanded to submit to the Lord of all the worlds.[1]
Commentary

The verse states an example of those who call towards the truth and those
who call towards falsehood: during a journey, devils misguide an individual
leading him towards a path of destruction. His friends call him towards the
right path while he stands wondering where he should go. If he walks on the
path of the devils, he will perish, and if he listens to his companions, he
shall reach his destination safely. This is the state of the one who deviates
from the way of Islam and walks upon the path of Satan, and Muslims are calling
him to the right path. Now, if he accepts the call of the Muslims, he will
attain salvation. Otherwise, he will be destroyed.
