English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

And remember when We took a pledge from the Children of Israel, “You shall not worship anyone except Allah, and be kind to ˹your˺ parents and relatives and orphans and the destitute, and speak to the people courteously, and establish the[1] prayer and give zakat.” ˹However,˺ you then turned away except a few of you, and you ˹in any case˺ are those who turn away ˹from Divine Commands˺.

Commentary

[1]

Speaking courteously means encouraging good and condemning evil through various forms, including teaching, delivering lectures, and giving advice.

[2]

This shows it is the habit of the Israelites to turn away from the commands of Allah Almighty and the pledge made to Him.
