Commentary

[1]

Shās ibn Qays was a Jew from Madinah who attempted to ignite tensions between the two famous tribes of Aws and Khazraj after witnessing their brotherhood, but the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم successfully mediated between the two tribes. This verse was revealed on this occasion. Creating discords and disunity between Muslims is the practice of the Jews, and to instil love and establish reconciliation between them is the practice of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.
