وَ  اعْتَصِمُوْا  بِحَبْلِ  اللّٰهِ  جَمِیْعًا  وَّ  لَا  تَفَرَّقُوْا۪-وَ  اذْكُرُوْا  نِعْمَتَ  اللّٰهِ  عَلَیْكُمْ  اِذْ  كُنْتُمْ  اَعْدَآءً  فَاَلَّفَ  بَیْنَ  قُلُوْبِكُمْ  فَاَصْبَحْتُمْ  بِنِعْمَتِهٖۤ  اِخْوَانًاۚ-وَ  كُنْتُمْ  عَلٰى  شَفَا  حُفْرَةٍ  مِّنَ  النَّارِ  فَاَنْقَذَكُمْ  مِّنْهَاؕ-كَذٰلِكَ  یُبَیِّنُ  اللّٰهُ  لَكُمْ  اٰیٰتِهٖ  لَعَلَّكُمْ  تَهْتَدُوْنَ(103)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

Hold fast onto the rope of Allah, all together, and be not divided;[1] and remember the favour of Allah upon you when you were enemies, but He united your hearts, ˹and˺ so with His Grace, you became brothers; and you were on the edge of a trench of fire but He saved you from it. Thus, Allah states His verses to you that you may attain guidance.

Commentary

Some people use this verse to classify everyone, including the Ahl al-Sunnah, as wrong; this is a serious mistake. The ruling is that one should not stray from the way Muslims have been following which was observed by the Companions and proven by the Sunnah. The Ahl al-Sunnah have always followed the Sunnah of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and the community (jamāʿah) of the Companions; so those who deviate from this should be admonished. Those who follow the true way should not be told to abandon their way.
