The Banu Salamah of Khazraj and the Banū Hārithah of Aws (the flanks of the Muslim army) were initially persuaded by the plot of ʿAbdullah ibn ʿUbayy to retreat with the hypocrites, but Allah Almighty granted both groups steadfastness with the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم; here this blessing and favour is mentioned. The hypocrites fled as planned when the battle began.
