Al Imran

HR Background

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

If Allah helps you, no one can defeat you; and if He leaves you, then who will help you after Him?[1] And the believers must only place their trust in Allah.

Commentary

[1]

The two points mentioned here are clarified by the Expeditions of Badr and unayn. At Badr, the army of the disbelievers was greater in number, equipment, and battle strength compared to the Muslims. However, the Muslims had placed their trust in Allah Almighty which led to their victory by Allah’s Grace; angels descended into the theatre of war as a form of help from Allah Almighty. At unayn, the Muslims were proud of their greater number and so they suffered losses as a result.
