English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

Those who say, “Allah took an oath from us that we would never believe in a Prophet until he brings a sacrifice which is consumed by fire”, ˹Dear Beloved Prophet,˺ say, “Indeed many Prophets came to you before me with clear signs and they brought that which you had spoken of (miracles), then why did you martyr them if you are truthful?”[1]

Commentary

[1]

From the commentary of this verse, an important principle comes to light that when something is proven through reasonable proof, then it is necessary to accept it. To demand a specific proof after something has been proven is the way of the Jews; people who make such demands do not intend to accept, rather, they simply want to argue. Among Muslims, we see that although many matters are proven and established through scriptural evidence, some insist, “Prove it from the Prophetic era, prove it from Bukhari...” This behaviour is utter ignorance and to engage with such people is pointless.
