O you who believe! Be patient[1] and exceed your enemies in tolerance and guard the Islamic boundary; and fear Allah that you may attain success.

Commentary

[1]

Patience (abr) is to stop oneself from doing anything contrary to the teachings of Islam or human rationality. One meaning of muābarah is to be patient when offended by others. Patience manifests in many ways; patience when facing difficulties in learning fundamental tenets of faith; being patient when executing duties and recommended deeds while abstaining from prohibitions; and being patient when facing worldly calamities. Muābarah includes being patient in the face of bad manners from family, relatives, and neighbours. Additionally, not retaliating against those who mistreat, commanding the good, condemning evil, and Jihad against the disbelievers are included too.
