Commentary

[1]

Prophet Zakariyyā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام requested a sign confirming his wife’s pregnancy so that he may increase in worship and gratitude. This shows how Allah Almighty should be thanked when a pious child is born. ʿAqīqah, charity, voluntary offerings, and voluntary prayers are all forms of gratitude for such a blessing. Since our Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is mercy for all the worlds and the greatest blessing in creation, we express our gratitude through the blessed mawlid (commemoration of his birth and life).
