English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

Remember when Allah said, “O ʿĪsā I will enable you to reach ˹your˺ complete age; I will raise you towards Me; I will grant you salvation from the disbelievers;[1] and I will make your followers predominant over those who reject ˹you˺ until the Day of Judgement.[2] Then, all of you shall return to Me, ˹and˺ I will decide between you regarding the issues you were disputing.

Commentary

[1]

The words of this verse do not prove the death of Prophet ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام as the word “tawaffā” means to complete (al-Najm: 37), to take fully, to cause sleep, and to give death. In usage, the interpretation would depend on the context or indicative device (qarīnah). Here, the expression means that I shall give you a complete life or I shall take you with body and soul.

[2]

The followers of Prophet ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام refers to those who follow him properly; this can only be Muslims, as the Jews oppose him and the Christians believe he is god which contradicts correct creed as Prophet ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام himself said that there is no deity other than Allah Almighty.
