Luqman

HR Background

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

And do not turn your cheek away when you talk to people, and do not walk upon the earth with vanity. Allah does not like every conceited, arrogant individual. [1]

Commentary

[1]

No person, whether he is wealthy or poor, should be considered as inferior; rather one should meet everyone with kindness and speak to them with courtesy. Considering the poor as inferior and thus turning away from them and speaking to them in a condescending manner; similarly, looking at wealthy people with disdain, are all signs of arrogance. Everyone should avoid this.
