بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Allah's Name to commence with, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
In the name of Allah, the Infinitely Gracious, the Most Merciful.
الٓمّٓ(1)
Alif-Laam-Meem. (These are individual letters of the Arabic alphabet; Allah and His Messenger know their exact meanings.)
Alif Lām Mīm.
تِلْكَ اٰیٰتُ الْكِتٰبِ الْحَكِیْمِ(2)
These are the verses of the Book of wisdom (i.e. the Qur'aan).
These are verses of the Book of Wisdom.
هُدًى وَّ رَحْمَةً لِّلْمُحْسِنِیْنَ(3)
(These verses) are guidance and mercy for the righteous.
Guidance and mercy for the virtuous.
الَّذِیْنَ یُقِیْمُوْنَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَ یُؤْتُوْنَ الزَّكٰوةَ وَ هُمْ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ هُمْ یُوْقِنُوْنَﭤ(4)
Those who keep Salah established, and pay Zakah, and believe in the Hereafter.
Those who establish the prayer, give zakat, and are certain of the Hereafter.
اُولٰٓىٕكَ عَلٰى هُدًى مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ وَ اُولٰٓىٕكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ(5)
It is they who are upon the guidance of their Lord, and their objective is attained.
They are the very people upon guidance from their Lord and it is they who are successful.
وَ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ یَّشْتَرِیْ لَهْوَ الْحَدِیْثِ لِیُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِ بِغَیْرِ عِلْمٍ ﳓ وَّ یَتَّخِذَهَا هُزُوًاؕ-اُولٰٓىٕكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِیْنٌ(6)
And some people buy words of amusement (i.e. fake stories, music, etc.) in order to mislead (others) from Allah's path without understanding, and to make fun of it (i.e. the verses); for them is a disgraceful punishment.
And among people there are those who purchase words of amusement ˹so˺ that they may divert from the way of Allah without knowledge; and take it in mockery. There is humiliating punishment for them.
وَ اِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَیْهِ اٰیٰتُنَا وَلّٰى مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَاَنْ لَّمْ یَسْمَعْهَا كَاَنَّ فِیْۤ اُذُنَیْهِ وَقْرًاۚ-فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ اَلِیْمٍ(7)
And when Our verses are recited to him, he arrogantly turns away as if he did not hear them, as if there is heaviness in his ears; so, give him the good news of a painful punishment.
And when Our verses are recited to him, he turns away arrogantly as if he did not even hear them, as if there is a burden in his ears. So give him glad tidings of painful punishment.
اِنَّ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنّٰتُ النَّعِیْمِ(8)
Indeed, those who believed and did good deeds, for them are gardens of serenity.
Those who believed and did righteous deeds, there are Gardens of bounties for them.
