قَالَ قَرِیْنُهٗ رَبَّنَا مَاۤ اَطْغَیْتُهٗ وَ لٰـكِنْ كَانَ فِیْ ضَلٰلٍۭ بَعِیْدٍ(27)
And his companion (devil) will say, “O our Lord! I did not make him transgress. However, he was in extreme misguidance.” [1]
Commentary
[1]
On the Day of Judgement, when the order will be given to throw the disbelievers into Hellfire, one of them will say: “Our Lord! Satan deceived me and never allowed me to travel on the right path, hence I am blameless.” The devil that was appointed to him in the world will respond: “O our Lord! I never compelled him to transgress. Rather I would only make suggestions for him, but he continued to act upon it till he fell into the deep valleys of misguidance. Therefore, I am not responsible for him.”
