وَ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ رَسُوْلٌ مِّنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰهِ مُصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ نَبَذَ فَرِیْقٌ مِّنَ الَّذِیْنَ اُوْتُوا الْكِتٰبَۗۙ-كِتٰبَ اللّٰهِ وَرَآءَ ظُهُوْرِهِمْ كَاَنَّهُمْ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَ(101)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

And when a Messenger came to them from Allah who confirms what they have, a group from the People of the Book discarded the Book of Allah behind their backs as if they know nothing at all.[1]

Commentary

Although the Jews had the utmost respect for the Torah, they did not comply with its command to believe in the Final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and hence, it was as though they discarded the book behind their backs.
