كُتِبَ عَلَیْكُمْ اِذَا حَضَرَ اَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ اِنْ تَرَكَ خَیْرَاﰳ -ۖۚ - الْوَصِیَّةُ لِلْوَالِدَیْنِ وَ الْاَقْرَبِیْنَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ-ۚ--حَقًّا عَلَى الْمُتَّقِیْنَﭤ(180)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

It is prescribed for you[1] ˹that˺ when death approaches anyone of you, if he leaves wealth, he should bequeath it to his parents and kin in a noble manner; this is incumbent upon the righteous.

Commentary

[1]

This obligation existed before the rulings of inheritance were revealed (as traditionally wealth was distributed this way). The necessary nature of the will was abrogated; however, it is still permissible.
