Al Baqarah

HR Background

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

And ˹O Beloved Prophet!˺ When My people question you concerning Me, so I am indeed near. I accept the supplication of the one who calls upon Me when he supplicates,[1] so they should obey My command and believe in Me that they may attain guidance.

Commentary

[1]

Supplication (du’ā) means to present one’s need, and Divine Acceptance (ijābah) refers to the response of the Creator with the words (Labbayka ʿabdī). When one supplicates; this differs from the attainment of that which was sought.
