اَلشَّهْرُ الْحَرَامُ بِالشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ وَ الْحُرُمٰتُ قِصَاصٌؕ-فَمَنِ اعْتَدٰى عَلَیْكُمْ فَاعْتَدُوْا عَلَیْهِ بِمِثْلِ مَا اعْتَدٰى عَلَیْكُمْ۪-وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَ اعْلَمُوْۤا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقِیْنَ(194)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

A sacred month for a sacred month, and there is retaliation in kind for all things sacred.So whosoever attacks you, only attack him to the extent that he attacked you; and fear Allah, and know that Allah is with those who fear.[1]

Commentary

Consider the utmost civility, noble character, and avoidance of oppression propagated by Islam; when the enemy is captured with an overwhelming feeling of revenge, Muslims are instructed to adopt piety and justice, avoiding transgression in their retaliation.
