Al Baqarah

HR Background

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

Jihad has been made incumbent upon you even though it is undesirable to you; and it is near that you dislike something even though it is good for you; and it is near that you prefer something even though it is bad for you; Allah knows, and you do not.[1]

Commentary

[1]

One should not always determine good and bad based on reasoning. Rather, the ultimate criterion is the command of Allah Almighty. Whatever Allah Almighty has commanded is better for us and whatever Allah Almighty has not commanded is not better for us.
