اَلْبَقَرَة

وَ قَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِیُّهُمْ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَدْ بَعَثَ لَكُمْ طَالُوْتَ مَلِكًاؕ-قَالُوْۤا اَنّٰى یَكُوْنُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ عَلَیْنَا وَ نَحْنُ اَحَقُّ بِالْمُلْكِ مِنْهُ وَ لَمْ یُؤْتَ سَعَةً مِّنَ الْمَالِؕ-قَالَ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ اصْطَفٰىهُ عَلَیْكُمْ وَ زَادَهٗ بَسْطَةً فِی الْعِلْمِ وَ الْجِسْمِؕ-وَ اللّٰهُ یُؤْتِیْ مُلْكَهٗ مَنْ یَّشَآءُؕ-وَ اللّٰهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِیْمٌ(247)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

And their Prophet said to them, “Indeed, Allah has made Ṭālūt your king,”[1] They said, “How has he attained authority over us, despite the fact that we are more deserving of the kingdom than him, and he was not even endowed with abundance of wealth.” He (that Prophet) said, “Allah has chosen him over you and granted him more excellence in knowledge and physique.” And Allah may grant His kingdom to whomsoever He wills. And Allah is Most-Bestowing, All-Knowing.

Commentary

[1]

The word (بَعَثَ) literally means to make something stand, however, its meaning changes with context; here this word means to send or delegate.
