ألم تر إلى الذي حاج إبراهيم في ربه أن آتاه الله الملك إذ قال إبراهيم ربي الذي يحيي ويميت قال أنا أحيي وأميت ۖ قال إبراهيم فإن الله يأتي بالشمس من المشرق فأت بها من المغرب فبهت الذي كفر ۗ والله لا يهدي القوم الظالمين

اَلْبَقَرَة

Al Baqarah

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذِیْ حَآجَّ اِبْرٰهٖمَ فِیْ رَبِّهٖۤ اَنْ اٰتٰىهُ اللّٰهُ الْمُلْكَۘ-اِذْ قَالَ اِبْرٰهٖمُ رَبِّیَ الَّذِیْ یُحْیٖ وَ یُمِیْتُۙ-قَالَ اَنَا اُحْیٖ وَ اُمِیْتُؕ-قَالَ اِبْرٰهٖمُ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ یَاْتِیْ بِالشَّمْسِ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ فَاْتِ بِهَا مِنَ الْمَغْرِبِ فَبُهِتَ الَّذِیْ كَفَرَؕ-وَ اللّٰهُ لَا یَهْدِی الْقَوْمَ الظّٰلِمِیْنَ(258)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

˹Dear Beloved Prophet,˺ did you not see the one who argued with Ibrāhīm about his Lord as Allah endowed him (Ibrāhīm) with the kingdom? When Ibrāhīm said, “My Lord is He who grants life and causes death.” He said, “I give life and I cause death”, Ibrāhīm said, “Allah brings out the sun from the east so bring it out from the west.” So, he who disbelieved was dumbfounded ˹by the argument˺[1]—and Allah does not guide the oppressors.

Commentary

[1]

This is evidence for debate in creed; this is the way of the Prophets, so such debate is not bad, however the elements of arrogance, hostility, and not accepting the truth which have affected this action are rejected by the honourable scholars.
