Al Imran

HR Background

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

What they spend in this worldly life is like the wind which contains severe frost; it reaches crops, belonging to people who have wronged themselves, so it destroys it (the harvest). And Allah did not oppress them, and yet they oppress themselves.[1]

Commentary

[1]

This verse relates the example of what disbelievers and ostentatious people spend; whatever they spend is destroyed by their disbelief or ostentation like a severe frost destroys crops. This matter is not oppression against them but the outcome of their disbelief or hypocrisy which is self-oppression.
