English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

And so many Prophets performed Jihad, with them were numerous people of Allah; so they were not disheartened by calamities in the way of Allah, and they neither showed weakness nor surrendered; and Allah loves those who are patient.[1]

Commentary

[1]

The verse states that many prophets performed Jihad and they were accompanied by godly people (rabbānī). Jihad began in the time of Prophet Ibrāhīmعَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام, there was no Jihad prior to this era. However, after this period, Jihad was legislated in the legal canons of many prophets including Mūsā, Dāwūd, and Yūshaʿ عَـلَيْـهِمُ الـسَّـلَام. The godly people being referenced are the scholars, religious guides, and pious individuals who strive to attain the pleasure of Allah Almighty.
