And so that He (Allah) reveals the hypocrites. And ˹when˺ it was said to them, “Come forth and perform Jihad in the way of Allah or defend against the enemy”, they said, “If we knew how to fight (or they said, “If we considered this battle to be right”), we would certainly join you.” On that day, they were nearer to open disbelief than apparent faith. They utter with their mouths that which is not within their hearts. And Allah knows best what they conceal.
