Al Imran

HR Background

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

Those who said of their brothers,[1] while they remained behind themselves, “Had they obeyed us, they would not have been killed.” ˹Dear Beloved Prophet,˺ say, “So avert death from yourselves if you are truthful.”

Commentary

[1]

The hypocrites attempted to mock the martyrs of Uhud, claiming that if they had listened to them and remained at home like them, they would not have been killed. In response, it was said that if you are truthful, then avert death. Death will certainly come even if one hides at home; so this statement that if they had listened to us, they would not have been killed is totally wrong.
