Al Imran

HR Background

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a trivial sum,[1] there is no share for them in the Hereafter, and Allah will neither speak to them nor look upon them ˹with mercy˺ on the Day of Judgement, and He will not purify them; there is painful punishment for them.

Commentary

[1]

Allah Almighty took an oath from the Jews that they will believe in the Final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, however, their scholars and leaders distorted the verses of the Torah which mentioned the excellences of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم for personal gain; they concealed the verses and took false oaths to endorse their fabrications attributing them to Divine Revelation. Severe warnings are expressed in the verse related to turning away from the covenant of Allah Almighty and breaking oaths for worldly wealth.
