بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Allah's Name to commence with, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
In the name of Allah, the Infinitely Gracious, the Most Merciful.
اَلرَّحْمٰنُ(1)
The Most Gracious.
The Infinitely Gracious:
عَلَّمَ الْقُرْاٰنَﭤ(2)
(He) has taught the Qur'aan to His Beloved (Prophet Muhammad).
He taught the Quran,
خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَ(3)
(He) has created the soul of mankind; (the Beloved Prophet) Muhammad.
created man,
عَلَّمَهُ الْبَیَانَ(4)
(He) has taught him the speech (i.e. knowledge) of whatever has happened and whatever will happen.
and taught him articulation.
اَلشَّمْسُ وَ الْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ(5)
The sun and the moon are programmed (moving on a fixed orbit).
The sun and the moon have specific orbits.
وَّ النَّجْمُ وَ الشَّجَرُ یَسْجُدٰنِ(6)
And the plants and the trees prostrate (to Him).
The plants and the trees prostrate.
وَ السَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَ وَضَعَ الْمِیْزَانَ(7)
And Allah has raised the sky and set the scale.
He raised the sky and set the scales,
اَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِی الْمِیْزَانِ(8)
That you should not transgress in the scale (when you are weighing).
˹so˺ do not transgress in weighing.
وَ اَقِیْمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَ لَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِیْزَانَ(9)
And establish the weight with justice, and do not reduce the weight.
˹Rather˺, weigh accurately, and do not give short measure.
وَ الْاَرْضَ وَ ضَعَهَا لِلْاَنَامِ(10)
And He placed the earth for creation.
And He has established the earth for the creation.
فِیْهَا فَاكِهَةٌ ﭪ--وَّ النَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْاَكْمَامِ(11)
Therein are fruits and dates covering (each other).
There are fruits therein, and date-palms with encased clusters.
وَ الْحَبُّ ذُو الْعَصْفِ وَ الرَّیْحَانُ(12)
And grain with husk, and fragrant flowers.
And grain upon stalks and fragrant flowers.
فَبِاَیِّ اٰلَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ(13)
So, O mankind and Jinn! Which of the favours of your Lord will both of you belie?
So, ˹O jinn and mankind˺, which of your Lord’s favours will you deny?
خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ(14)
He created man from sounding clay like (that of) pottery.
He created man from reverberating, dry clay like ceramic.
وَ خَلَقَ الْجَآنَّ مِنْ مَّارِجٍ مِّنْ نَّارٍۚ (15)
And created Jinn from a flame of fire.
And He created the jinn from the pure flame of smokeless fire.
فَبِاَیِّ اٰلَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ(16)
So, which of the favours of your Lord will you both belie?
So which of your Lord’s favours will you deny?
رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقَیْنِ وَ رَبُّ الْمَغْرِبَیْنِ(17)
The Lord of both the Easts, and the Lord of both the Wests. (In winter and summer, sunrise and sunset are at different places.)
Lord of the two easts and the two wests.
فَبِاَیِّ اٰلَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ(18)
So, which of the favours of your Lord will you both belie?
So which of your Lord’s favours will you deny?
مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَیْنِ یَلْتَقِیٰنِ(19)
He has made two oceans that appear to join (with each other).
He caused two seas to flow, seemingly meeting.
بَیْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا یَبْغِیٰنِ(20)
And there is a barrier between them; that one cannot surpass the other.
There is a barrier between them, they cannot exceed one another.
فَبِاَیِّ اٰلَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ(21)
So, which of the favours of your Lord will you belie?
So which of your Lord’s favours will you deny?
