This sacrifice was referred to as a great sacrifice due to the nature of its importance, which is the fact that this was the sacrificing of the Prophet عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم whose lineage the Final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم belonged to.(Tafsīr Al-Bayḍāwī, Al-Ṣāffāt, under the verse 107, vol. 5, p. 22)
