اَلَمْ تَرَ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ یُوْلِجُ الَّیْلَ فِی النَّهَارِ وَ یُوْلِجُ النَّهَارَ فِی الَّیْلِ وَ سَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَ الْقَمَرَ٘-كُلٌّ یَّجْرِیْۤ اِلٰۤى اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى وَّ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ خَبِیْرٌ(29)
˹O listener!˺ Did you not see that Allah merges the night into the day and merges the day into the night, and He set the sun and the moon in motion; each orbits for a specified term, [1] and that Allah is aware of your deeds?
Commentary
[1]
“Specified term” refers to the Day of Judgement; the sun and moon continue orbiting until their appointed time just as the sun orbits until the end of the year and the moon orbits until the end of the month.
