وَ جَآءَتْ سَكْرَةُ الْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّؕ-ذٰلِكَ مَا كُنْتَ مِنْهُ تَحِیْدُ(19)
And the severity of death came with the truth; [1] this is that which you were running away from. [2]
Commentary

It is not possible to flee from death, rather it will arrive in any case. To remain negligent of death, to not ponder about the pangs that will be experienced at the agony of death and to not make any preparations for the life of the Isthmus Realm (barzakh) and resurrection is foolishness.

Truth here refers to the actual arrival of death or it refers to the matter of the Hereafter which a person observes himself. Or it refers to the outcome, felicity or misfortune.
