Allah's Name to commence with, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
In the name of Allah, the Infinitely Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Read with the Name of your Lord Who created (everything).
Read in the name of your Lord Who created.
He created human beings from a clot of blood.
He created man from congealed blood.
Read, and only your Lord is the Most Generous.
Read and your Lord is the Most Generous
The One Who taught to write with the pen.
Who taught ˹to write˺ with the pen,
The One Who taught man what he knew not.
He taught man what he did not know.
Yes, certainly! The disbelieving man is indeed rebellious.
Truly, indeed man transgresses;
Upon this, that he considers himself self-sufficient.
as he considers himself to be free of need.
Indeed, only towards your Lord is the return.
Indeed the return is to your Lord alone.
Do you see him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prohibits.
Did you see the one who forbids
(Allah's) bondsman (i.e. the Beloved Prophet Muhammad) when he offers Salah?
a person when he prays?
Do you see, if he (i.e. Abu Jahl) had been upon guidance.
Consider, had he been upon guidance
Or had he instructed piety, so how good it would have been (for him)?
or commanded piety ˹it would have been better˺.
Do you see, if he belied and turned away, so how will (his) state be?
Consider, if he denied and turned away ˹what will become of him˺.
Did he not know that Allah is watching (him)?
Does he not know that Allah sees him?
Yes, certainly! If he does not abstain, We will definitely drag him by seizing the forelock hairs (of his).
Of course, if he does not refrain, We will certainly seize him ˹and drag him˺ by the forelock.
What kind of forelock! A lying sinful one.
A lying, sinful forehead.
Let him now call his council (of helpers).
So let him call upon his group.
We will now call the guards (of Hell).
Soon We shall summon the angels of punishment.
Yes, certainly! Do not listen to him! And prostrate, and become close to Us.
Pay heed, do not obey him; but prostrate and gain ˹Our˺ proximity.
