Allah's Name to commence with, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
In the name of Allah, the Infinitely Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Alif-Laam-Meem-Saad. (These are individual letters of the Arabic alphabet; Allah and His Messenger know their exact meanings.)
Alif Lām Mīm Ṣād.
O Beloved! A Book has been sent to you; so, let not your heart become discouraged towards it (thinking that people will not accept), so that you may give warning therewith and advice to the Muslims.
˹Dear Beloved Prophet, this is˺ a Book which was revealed to you so that you warn through it, and as advice for believers, so let there be no constriction in your heart due to it.
O people! Follow what has come down to you from your Lord, and do not follow rulers abandoning it (i.e. the commandments of the Qur'aan); there is very little you understand.
˹O people,˺ follow that which was revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow masters other than Him, you understand very little.
And many a town We have destroyed; so, Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon.
And how many villages have We destroyed! So Our punishment came to them by night or while they were sleeping during the day.
Therefore, nothing came out from their mouths when Our punishment came upon them except they said only this; that 'We were unjust.'
So when Our punishment came to them, then their cry was only this that they said, “Indeed we were oppressors.”
So, We shall indeed definitely question those to whom Messengers went, and We are to indeed certainly ask the Messengers (as well).
So We shall most definitely question those to whom Messengers were sent, and We will most certainly question the Messengers.
So, We shall definitely inform them with Our knowledge and We were not at all absent.
So We shall most definitely relate to them from Our knowledge and We were not absent.
And on that Day, weighing is to certainly take place; those whose scales became heavy are therefore the successful.
And the weighing on that Day is certainly true, so those whose scales shall be heavy, then it is they who will be successful.
And those whose scales became light are only those who put their souls at loss; the recompense of those injustices which they used to do with Our verses.
And those whose scales shall be light, then it is they who have wronged themselves as they were being unjust with Our verses.
And We indeed established you on earth and therein created for you the means of livelihood; very little thanks do you offer.
And indeed, We granted you an abode in the earth and created for you livelihoods therein; you express very little gratitude.
And We indeed created you, then made your forms, then ordered the angels that 'Prostrate to Adam,' they all therefore prostrated except Iblees (Satan); he did not become of those who prostrate.
Verily, We created you, then We formed you, then We said to the angels, “Prostrate to Adam!” So all prostrated except for Iblīs; he was not among the prostraters.
(Allah) said, 'What prevented you that you did not prostrate when I commanded you?' Answered he (Iblees), 'I am better than him; You created me from fire and created him from clay.'
He (Allah) said, “What prevented you from prostrating when I had commanded you?” Iblīs said, “I am better than him. You created me from fire and you created him from clay.”
