اٰلِ عِمْرَان

وَ  لَقَدْ  صَدَقَكُمُ  اللّٰهُ  وَعْدَهٗۤ  اِذْ  تَحُسُّوْنَهُمْ  بِاِذْنِهٖۚ-حَتّٰۤى  اِذَا  فَشِلْتُمْ  وَ  تَنَازَعْتُمْ  فِی  الْاَمْرِ  وَ  عَصَیْتُمْ  مِّنْۢ  بَعْدِ  مَاۤ  اَرٰىكُمْ  مَّا  تُحِبُّوْنَؕ-مِنْكُمْ  مَّنْ  یُّرِیْدُ  الدُّنْیَا  وَ  مِنْكُمْ  مَّنْ  یُّرِیْدُ  الْاٰخِرَةَۚ-ثُمَّ  صَرَفَكُمْ  عَنْهُمْ  لِیَبْتَلِیَكُمْۚ-وَ  لَقَدْ  عَفَا  عَنْكُمْؕ-وَ  اللّٰهُ  ذُوْ  فَضْلٍ  عَلَى  الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ(152)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

And indeed, Allah fulfilled His promise when you were killing them with His command until you showed cowardice and argued with one another regarding the command; and you disobeyed after Allah had shown you the success you sought. Some of you crave for the world and some among you yearn for the Hereafter. Then He turned your faces away from them so that He tests you; and indeed, He has forgiven you—and Allah is Most-Gracious for people of faith.[1]

Those who erred during the battle of Uhud were forgiven through Revelation and hence, this event cannot be used to criticize the noble companions; those who disrespect Prophetic companions are deviants.
