بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Allah's Name to commence with, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
In the name of Allah, the Infinitely Gracious, the Most Merciful.
اَلَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا وَ صَدُّوْا عَنْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِ اَضَلَّ اَعْمَالَهُمْ(1)
Those who disbelieved and prevented (people) from the way of Allah, Allah has destroyed their deeds.
Those who disbelieved and prevented from the way of Allah, He has destroyed their deeds.
وَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَ اٰمَنُوْا بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ هُوَ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَّبِّهِمْۙ-كَفَّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَیِّاٰتِهِمْ وَ اَصْلَحَ بَالَهُمْ(2)
And those who believed and did good deeds and believed in what has been sent down upon (the Beloved Prophet) Muhammad, and only that is the truth from their Lord, Allah has removed their sins and refined their conditions.
And those who believed and performed righteous deeds and believed in that which was revealed to Muhammad, and it is the truth from their Lord, He has erased their sins and rectified their condition.
ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوا اتَّبَعُوا الْبَاطِلَ وَ اَنَّ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّبَعُوا الْحَقَّ مِنْ رَّبِّهِمْؕ-كَذٰلِكَ یَضْرِبُ اللّٰهُ لِلنَّاسِ اَمْثَالَهُمْ(3)
This (destruction of the good deeds of the disbelievers) is because the disbelievers have followed falsehood and (removing the sins from the believers is because) the believers have followed the truth which is from their Lord; this is how Allah narrates to people their description.
This is because the disbelievers followed falsehood and the believers followed the truth from their Lord. Thus Allah states their examples to people.
فَاِذَا لَقِیْتُمُ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا فَضَرْبَ الرِّقَابِؕ-حَتّٰۤى اِذَاۤ اَثْخَنْتُمُوْهُمْ فَشُدُّوا الْوَثَاقَۙ-فَاِمَّا مَنًّۢا بَعْدُ وَ اِمَّا فِدَآءً حَتّٰى تَضَعَ الْحَرْبُ اَوْزَارَهَا ﲰذٰلِكَ ﳍوَ لَوْ یَشَآءُ اللّٰهُ لَانْتَصَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَ لٰـكِنْ لِّیَبْلُوَاۡ بَعْضَكُمْ بِبَعْضٍؕ-وَ الَّذِیْنَ قُتِلُوْا فِیْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِ فَلَنْ یُّضِلَّ اَعْمَالَهُمْ(4)
So, when you confront the disbelievers (in war), so strike their necks, until such time you have slain them sufficiently, so tie them up firmly (as prisoners of war). Then thereafter, either release them as a favour or take ransom, until the war lays down its load (i.e. it ends). The matter is this, and had Allah willed, so He could have taken revenge on them Himself, but for this reason that He may test amongst you one with another, and Allah will never waste the deeds of those who were killed in His path.
So when you meet the disbelievers ˹in battle˺, strike their necks until when you have killed many of them, then bind them (the prisoners) tightly, then after that either release them in good will or take a ransom until war lays down its burden. This ˹is the command˺. And had Allah willed, He would certainly have taken retribution from them, however, (this command was given) so that He may test some of you through others. And those who are killed in the way of Allah, He will never annul their deeds.
